Lucille Marie Snyder, 90, of Plymouth, passed away early Thursday morning, May 17, 2018 in the Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth.
Lucille was born February 9, 1928 in St. Joseph County, to the late Willis H. and Verniece (Martin) Barkey.
She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1946.
On May 16, 1948 in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren, she married Elden C. Snyder; he preceded her in death on August 7, 1987.
Lucille had at one time worked for the Plymouth Telephone Company. She also helped on the farm, sold eggs, blueberries, and loved helping out other people.
She was an active member of the Plymouth Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday School for over fifty years. She was an avid reader and subscriber of the Pilot and South Bend Tribune, as well as collecting butterflies. She was proud that she shared her birth year with Mickey Mouse and collected all things Mickey. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, being a grandmother and loved all her friends.
Surviving are her four children; Linda and Hal Rinkel of LaPorte, Marcia and Scott McCartney of Plymouth, Diane and Terry Cole of Plymouth and David E. Snyder, last known address of Texas, five grandchildren; Sarah E. (Ransom Erik) Ebersole, Jonathan D. (Sarah L.) Rinkel Sr., Lisa M. McCartney (Michael Sanders), Lee R. McCartney, Brandon D. (Katie) Cole. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren; Grace L. Rinkel, Jonathan D. Rinkel Jr., Shawn D. Masten, Cameron P. Springman, and a brother; Wayne M. (Linda) Barkey of Wabash. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother and sister-in-law; Lowell and Katherine Barkey.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 2-5 PM at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 North Michigan Street, Plymouth, Indiana 46563, and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Monday at the church.
Funeral services will be on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Plymouth Church of the Brethren, 1130 North Michigan Street, Plymouth, Indiana 46563, with Pastor Tom Anders officiating.
Burial will follow at the New Oak Hill Cemetery.
