Alice Gertrude Taylor, 90, a resident at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth passed away there on Saturday morning, December 28, 2013.
Born in Donaldson, Indiana on February 24, 1923, she is the daughter of Harry Lloyd and Ida Louise (Knope) Rinker. She graduated from Union Township High School in LaPorte with the class of 1941.
Alice’s first job was working in the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant during WWI. During that time she met Norman Eugene Taylor, and the couple would get married on September 9, 1953 in LaPorte.
After settling down, she began working for Dave & Rays Supermarket in the bakery for 12 years.
Alice was a wonderful mother and a very loving person. She was a talented baker, apple tarts being her specialty. She loved to entertain her family and friends, making sure everyone left full. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles. Alice was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Walkerton.
She is survived by one daughter Vicki Taylor-Bloch of New Fairfield, CT, a grandchild Andrew Taylor-Bloch, a sister Velma R. Grise of South Bend and two nephews; Gary P. Richey and Roy Michael Roush of Plymouth.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Norman.
Friends may call on Monday, December 30th from 11 – 1 p.m. EDT in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Joanne Boys will officiate.
Burial will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton, Indiana.
