Allissa Hostetler

October 22, 1981 — May 28, 2024

Plymouth

Allissa (Moreland) Hostetler, 42, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Born on October 22, 1981, in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Jack Moreland and Jeanne (Gross) Walker.

Growing up, she enjoyed singing and dancing and was involved in theatrical Christian ministry productions with her family. She had fond childhood memories of riding horses and going on "working" vacations with her family. She attended Plymouth High School where she played trumpet in band, twirled flags in marching band, sang in choir and swing choir, enjoyed arts and crafts, and performed in theater. She graduated a semester early in December 1998. She worked as a manager at GNC before studying accounting at Ivy Tech Community College where she also served as an officer in Phi Theta Kappa.

She married Robert Hostetler and had two children, Robert II (Bobby) & Chloe. They moved to live on base at Fort Lewis, Washington when Robert joined the U.S. Army. In addition to raising her kids, she trained to do home care and took care of disabled veterans. After the army, they returned to Indiana and lived in Plymouth before divorcing. Allissa continued to live with her children until the night she went to sleep and never woke up.

Allissa was a loving and dedicated mother. She had a contagious smile and a witty sense of humor. She loved to cook. She enjoyed the beach and watching movies. She loved crafts and doing activities with her children, and doting on her cats. She was the kind of mom who was resourceful and used her creativity to make sleepovers extra memorable. She would scroll pinterest for hours to find hairstyles to try and do nails together just to hang out. She loved capturing moments with her kids on camera, sharing her warmth when they needed comfort, and encouraging them with her love always.

She is survived by her parents Jack Moreland of Danville, IL & Jeanne Walker of Plymouth; children: Bobby and Chloe Hostetler; brother John “Jack” (Michelle) Moreland of Hobart, IN; nephews: Jackson Moreland, Alex Moreland, Alexander Hostetler,Connor Hostetler; nieces: Zoey Moreland and Abigail Hostetler; 12 aunts and uncles, many cousins, and significant friends.

Allissa is preceded in death by her brother Matthew and grandparents: Eric, Lee, Jack, and  Lil.
