Amanda R. Robinson, 91, formerly of Philadelphia, Penn., living at Miller’s Merry Manor, 600 Oakhill Ave., Plymouth, Ind. since June of 2001, died of natural causes on Saturday, December 25, 2004, at 9 p.m.
Born in Richboro, Penn., on August 25, 1913, Amanda was the daughter of John F. and Louise Menold Shetzline. She graduated with the Richboro High School class of 1930 and furthered her education with a number of business courses.
On April 14, 1941, in Philadelphia, Amanda and Warren R. Robinson were married. Warren died on May 25, 1981.
While living in Pennsylvania, Amanda was a bookkeeper. She was also a newspaper carrier for many years at her retirement center, Gloria Dei Farms, in Hatboro, Penn., and was twice awarded the Senior Citizen Carrier of the year.
She loved crafts and kept her fingers busy: knitting, crocheting and sewing. She enjoyed sewing costumes for her daughter when she was a child and had served as a Girl Scout leader. Amanda was very fond of cats, flower gardening and travel.
She attended the Grace Fellowship Church in Bremen, Ind., and while still living in Penn., was active as a library volunteer with the Addisville Reformed Church in Richboro.
Amanda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda R. and Mark Aikins, Plymouth.
A grandson, Nathan W. Aikins and a granddaughter, Heather L. Aikins, both of Plymouth, survive as well.
Four sisters, all of Philadelphia, also survive. They are: Jenny Pfeil, Helen Okenquist, Mabel Dadura and Mary and Edwin Wardwell. Carmela Shetzline, a sister-in-law in Philadelphia, survives also together with numerous nieces and nephews.
Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters. They were: John and David Shetzline and Louise Chubb and Rose Shetzline.
Friends will be welcomed to celebrate Amanda’s life with her family on Tuesday, December 28, 2004, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Ind.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 11 a.m. Pastor Jon Hueni, of the Grace Fellowship Church, Bremen, will officiate.
Services in Pennsylvania will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2004 in the Grant Funeral Home, 659 Street Rd., South Hampton, PA ph. 215-355-6050. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in The White Memorial Park Cemetery, Feasterville, Penn.
Memorial gifts in Amanda’s memory will be used at the Family’s discretion.
