Anna “Jane” Stockberger, 87, a lifetime resident of Argos , died at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2002 in the Life Care Center , Rochester . The former Railroad St. resident had been in failing health and had resided at Argos Garden Court for the past two years. Born in Argos on June 15, 1915 , she was the daughter of Frank M. and Pearl M. Bennett Wallace. She attended Argos schools.
On February 15, 1934 in Richland Center , Ind. , she married Kenneth Sherman Stockberger; he preceded her in death on April 3, 1974 .
Jane was a homemaker and thoroughly enjoyed caring for her large family including tasks like growing and canning their own vegetables. In earlier days she would find time for Square Dancing and always loved to watch her Hummingbirds.
She is survived by her three daughters, five sons, 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Her daughters are; M. Fern (Allen) Treesh and Pam J. (Jerry) Taylor of Plymouth and Judy K. Keck of Cheyenne , Wyoming . Her sons are; Wayne L. ( Alice ) Stockberger and Bill S. (Barb) Stockberger, of Argos , W. Ivy (Dorothy) Stockberger of Bald Knob, Ark. , Carl D. (Tanya) Stockberger of Plymouth and Allen W. (Dreama) Stockberger of Warsaw.
A sister, Ruby Shively of Warsaw and two brothers, Frankie Wallace of Warsaw and Morris Wallace of Plymouth , survive along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her spouse, a son Merlin R. Stockberger, a granddaughter Ann Stockberger and five brothers; Ray, Carl, Don, Kenny and Wayne Wallace.
Visitation with the family will be from 4 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27th in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 28th.
Burial will be in the Richland Center Cemetery , Richland Center , Ind. Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
