Anna M. Dettmer, 93, passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson, Indiana.
Lifetime resident, Ann was born in Plymouth, Indiana on July 25, 1925 to Albert and Mary (Bolinger) Fox. She graduated from Lincoln High School.
On August 14, 1945 in Plymouth’s St. Michael Church, Ann married John H. Dettmer. They got to share 67 wonderful years together raising their family of four children, experiencing life’s many pleasures, especially family events, traveling to nearly every state and spending many winters in the Avon Park area of Florida.
After her children were grown, Ann was employed at Young Door in Plymouth for 9 years and by JC Penny as a clerk for 7 years. She enjoyed customer relations and making new friends.
An active member of St. Michael Church, Ann was on the Altar Rosary Society.
Ann loved sewing dolls and doll clothes. She also was crafty, making Christmas ornaments, Christmas trees and angels. She found joy in baking and canning. But most of all, Ann loved spending time wither her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She supported them in whatever way needed.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John, parents, brother John Fox, sister Pauline Patrick and great-grandchildren, Brock D. Hedrick and Elizabeth M. Morgan.
She is survived by her four children and families which include 18 great-grandchildren. They are: Linda A. (Bob) Lux of Granger and children; Ken Hixenbaugh, Sheri Hedrick, Brian Hixenbaugh and Michael Hixenbaugh. Jeannie M. (Mike) Orr of Plymouth and their children; Shannon Morgan, Ryan Orr and Brendan Orr. Dr. John “Jack†(MaryLou) Dettmer of Fishers, IN and children; Shawna Coffee and Dr. Matthew Eaton. Dr. David A. (Carol) Dettmer of Auburn, IN and their children; Andrew Dettmer and Allison Dettmer. Also surviving is her brother, Gerald Fox of Sleepy Hollow, IL.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 10-11:15 a.m. at the Catherine Kasper Chapel, 9601 Union Road, Donaldson, Indiana. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:15 a.m. in the chapel with Fr. Matthias Alonyenu and Fr. Craig Borchard con-celebrating
Burial will follow in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
