Ardeth B. Smith

June 19, 1910 — January 10, 2000

Ardeth B. Smith, 89, 1750 S. Elmhurst Road, Des Plaines, Ill., for the past two years, died of natural causes on Monday, January 10, 2000, in the Holy Family Medical Center, Des Plaines, Ill.

Ardeth had been a resident of Plymouth from 1928 until 1993 when she moved to Leesburg, Florida.

She was born on June 19, 1910, in Rochester, Ind., the daughter of Albert and Agnes Jones Charters.

On February 17, 1940, in Plymouth, Ardeth and Russell W. Smith were married.  Russell died on April 13, 1992.

A homemaker, she enjoyed gardening and crafts.

Ardeth is survived by her step-son, Bobbie Joe and Phyllis Smith, Eustis, Florida.   Ronald C. and Valarie Olds, Glen Ellyn, Ill., a grandson and Diane and Steve Dawson, Wilmington, Del., a granddaughter also survive together with two great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter: Christopher and Daniel Olds and Shannon Dawson.  Two step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Betty Olds, and three brothers: infant Richard, Cecil and Jesse Charters.

Friends may visit with Ardeth’s family on Thursday, January 13, 2000, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Friday, January 14, 2000, at 10 a.m.  The Rev. Patrick Puglisi of the Plymouth Missionary Church will officiate.

Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
