Arnold Lee “Bud” McHargue, 64, passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, January 26, 2024. He was born in Plymouth on January 17, 1960 to Arnold “Mel” McHargue and Margaurite “Maggie” Gaines.
Bud was a part of the Plymouth High School Class of 1978. He enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17 and went on to continue his service in the Army National Guard, being honorable discharged on May, 31, 1991. He was truly a patriotic man at heart and loved his country.
He met Dawn Johnson while working at BPC Manufacturing. They were united in marriage in 1993 at the Conservation Clubhouse located at Magnetic Park in Plymouth. They would go on to have two sons, Eli and Jesse, who were his pride and joy.
Bud worked as a Fork Lift Operator at Masonite Door for 30 years, retiring in 2021. He was particular in his work and had a strong work ethic. He was known for being headstrong in his beliefs and could be stubborn. Bud made an impression on many people throughout his years with his kindness; especially a few who thought of him as a bonus dad, Dallas Deckys and Jennifer Slabaugh. His family and friends will deeply miss his heart of gold.
Enjoying all kinds of sports, Bud especially liked watching the Cubs and Bears. He hosted an annual party when NASCAR had their race at Daytona; bringing his favorite people together to make memories. Dale Earnhardt was his favorite racer, even being a member of Club-E when Dale was still alive. In his free time, Bud liked to golf, fish and hunt. When he visited family in Up-State New York, he also liked to race Go-Carts. Bud was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. Bud was associated with Shiloh Wesleyan Church.
Bud will be missed by his wife, Dawn; children, Eli and Jesse; siblings, Ruth (Ed) Clemons, Nancy (Kevin) Ames, Dawn (John) Sellers, and Tina (Don) Bunton; mother-in-law, Judy Pratz; in-laws, Russell Johnson, Dennis (Lana) Johnson, Sue (Dale) Harper, and Tom Johnson; Uncle John (Jan Moore) Gaines; Aunt Marjorie Yeargin; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Margaurite and brothers, Tiny and Chuck McHargue.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 11-1PM at Shiloh Wesleyan Church, 10532 4B Rd, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 1PM with Pastor Ed Friberg officiating.
Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth. Military Honors will be rendered by the American Legion Post #27 and the United States Army.
