Arthur H. “Art” Yung, 64, a resident of 6780 St. Road 17, Plymouth , died Thursday at 11 a.m. in his residence following a cancer related illness. Art had lived in Plymouth since 1976 coming from Starke County . Born in Summerville , Mich. , on December 26, 1937 , Art is the son of Raymond and Hazle C. Dickeson Yung. He attended schools in Niles , Michigan and Grovertown , Ind. On June 7, 1958 , at the Eagle Creek Church in Starke County , Art married Martha L. Schoff.

Art never quite left his first love of farming behind, even after 30 years as a truck driver for the Plymouth Fertilizer Co. He collected anything John Deere and enjoyed working with livestock, especially the Quivey Farms Belgium horses.

He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Plymouth for over 25 years. Art loved being with his family and had been involved with his children in 4H and school projects.

Surviving with his wife Martha are their children; two daughters Janis M. Weldon of Plymouth, Sheri L. Yung and fiancé Jeff Mora of Culver and two sons; Carl H. Yung and fiancé Rachelle Hall of Plymouth and Kenneth C. Yung and wife Jackie also of Plymouth.

Art cherished his six grandchildren; Jon, Chris and Raymond Haines, Zachary and Melissa Yung and Brian Mora. One brother also survives, Leo R. (Sandra) Yung of Hamlet, Ind. Preceding Art in death were his parents, a sister Hazel R. Yung and a niece Candy Stailey.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29th from 3 – 7 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. services in the First United Church of Christ, 321 N. Center St. Plymouth . The Rev. Dr. David Moffett-Moore, pastor will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Fairmont Cemetery , Plymouth .
