Former Plymouth resident, Barbara Ellen Arvesen, 55, passed away Thursday morning in her North Vernon home following complications of a therapeutic hospital procedure performed the day prior.
Barb was raised in Plymouth, the daughter of Robert C. Arvesen Sr. and Janet L. (Van Asten) Arvesen. She graduated from Plymouth High School with the Class of ’72 and furthered her education at Indiana University, Bloomington and graduated from the School of Nursing. Barb was full of life and adventure which led her back to where she was born on February 27, 1954 – San Diego, California. There she took a job doing rotations in the neo-natal intensive care units devoting her attention to little ones in greatest need of care. She also was active with the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Program of San Diego County along with her brother Eric. She resided there from 1974 – 2009 moving to North Vernon earlier this year and made her home with companion Gregory L. Lanum.
Barb enjoyed traveling, camping and her greatest joy visiting the Panda’s at the San Diego Zoo where she was a member of the Zoological Society. Surviving is her father Bob Arvesen a resident at Lawrence Lake, Plymouth and siblings; Nancy P. Bice of Marshall, Mich., Mark E. Arvesen of Plymouth, Jerry Arvesen of Bloomington, Karen M. Green, Patty L. Pynaert and Eric L. Arvesen all of Plymouth. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her mother Janet preceded her in death in 1983.
A Remembrance Service will be held on Sunday, November 8th at 2 p.m.in the funeral home. The Arvesen Family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
An interment service will follow at the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
