Barbara J. Harner

Barbara J. Harner, 81, passed away unexpectedly on September 8, 2024. She was the daughter of Hervey and Lola (Wilhelm) Vermillion, born on October 3, 1942 in Argos.

Barbara married the love of her life, Warren R. Harner, on April 23, 1961, at Shiloh Wesleyan Church. They would celebrate 51 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on July 15, 2012. Barbara had one of the most thankless jobs, being a mother to their four children: Brenda, Michelle, Pamela, and Scott. Most importantly was her devotion and love for God that she left and instilled in her children.

She was an avid flower gardener enjoying her Marigolds, Mums and Daffodils. Barbara also loved to can green beans, tomatoes, corn and painting suncatchers. Traveling to Cape Cod, Yellow Stone, New Orleans and Hawaii were often cherished memories of hers.

 Barbara will be missed by her children, Pam DePoy of Knox; Brenda Harner (Jim) Fitzgerald of Michigan City; Michelle (Daniel) Large of Plymouth; and Scott (Janet) Harner of Plymouth; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Jeanette) Vermillion; along with several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren; parents, Hervey and Lola; siblings, Phyllis (Frank) Butler, James LeRoy and son-in-law John DePoy.

Visitation will be held from 11- 1 pm on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at New Song Church, 1292 Baker St. Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will Immediately follow Pastor Justin Chambers officiating.

Burial will take place in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
