Barbara R. Shearer

PLYMOUTH – Barbara R. Shearer, 90, of Baker Street, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, February 13, 2018 at the Saint Joseph Regional Hospital – Mishawaka Campus. Barbara was born November 1, 1927 in Argos, Indiana, to the late Cecil and Helen (Eaton) Charters. After graduating from high school, Barbara went on to College and graduated from Cosmetology School.

Barbara married Harry “Cliff” Shearer on April 21, 1946, and spent nearly sixty-years together; he would precede her in death on March 9, 2006. She was a beautician for thirty-years at the Corner House in Plymouth.

She was a long-time member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. She loved her family and animals, and had a great sense of humor. She took great pride in her appearance. Surviving are her two sons; Greg (Patty) Shearer of Plymouth, with their children; Johna (Jeff Snyder and great-grandchildren; Ryan, Lauren, Hannah and Gina (Steve) Lekarczyk, and their daughter; Eden, and great-grandson; Jack, son; Dave (Cathy) Shearer of Huntington, Indiana.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband.

Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 412 North Center Street, Plymouth, where a funeral mass was held at 11:00 a.m. following visitation. The Rev. Fr. Thomas Erskine Haynes will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to either the Marshall County Humane Society, 11165 13th Road Plymouth IN, 46563 or the Marshall County Food Pantry, 402 West Garro Street, Plymouth, Indiana 46563. Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 North Michigan Street, Plymouth, is helping the family with services.
