Belva L. Large, 92, a resident of Bremen Manor for the past five years, died at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2004 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She had been a resident of Leesburg, Florida for many years before moving to Bremen.
Born on March 1, 1912, in Rochester, Ind., Belva was the daughter of Lewis H. and Readah Baldwin Cleland. She attended schools in the Rochester area.
Belva was married to Alfred L. Large, who preceded her in death on September 10, 1987.
She worked as a secretary at the Culver Military Academy for many years.
She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Belva is survived by two sons: Roger and Darlene Large, and their children, Julia Weiss; Dan and Michelle Large; Mikel and Terri Large and Jason and Julie Large, all of Plymouth, Ind. and Richard and Sally Large of Cordova, Tenn, and their children, Laura and David Huggins of Oakland, Tenn.; Alan and Daphne Large of Germantown, Tenn. and Steven and Debbie Large of Franklin, Ohio.
Seventeen great grandchildren survive, along with two brothers: Joe and Betty Cleland of South Bend, Ind.; Glenn Cleland of Rochester, Ind., and two sisters: Virginia Tippy of Columbia City, Ind.; Barbara and Bob Clevenger of Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
Belva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Randall Large, and two brothers, Lewis Cleland and George Cleland.
Friends will be welcomed by Belva’s family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Ind.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. John Perkinson, pastor of the Shiloh Wesleyan Church, will officiate.
Interment will be in Leiters Ford Cemetery, Leiters Ford, Ind.
Memorial gifts in Belva’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
