Betty J. Harrell, 83, 805 Baker Street, Plymouth, passed away in the presence of her loving family at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2007, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Born in Walkerton, Indiana on May 13, 1924, Betty was the daughter of Lewis T. and Edith L. Dipert Kelver.
She graduated from Walkerton High School in 1942.
On May 30, 1942, in Walkerton, Betty and William L. Harrell were married. William preceded her in passing on August 26, 2000.
The family lived in Argos from 1957 to 1998. Before and after those years, they lived in Plymouth.
Betty was a school bus driver for the Argos community School System for 11 years.
Her God, her church and her family were very important to Betty.
For 30 years, she taught Sunday school and Junior Church at the Assembly of God in Plymouth. She sang and played the piano, organ and guitar.
She was a 4H volunteer for many years.
Betty is survived by six children, two sons and four daughters.
Her sons are William E. and Rose Harrell, Argos: Paul L. and Carrie Harrell, Plymouth.
Her daughters are Barbara J. and John Pittman, Plymouth: Catherine L. and Larry Zimmer, Jacksonville, Ill.: Susan K. Miller, Plymouth and Darlene L. and Jim Zimmer, Fort Collins, Colo.
Sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and one step- great-great-granddaughter, together with a sister, Pauline Knowlton, Walkerton, survive as well.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son and five sisters: Marge Neidlinger, Mildred Williams, Lois Klatt, Dorothy Harrell and Mary Lou Johnson and three brothers: Elmer Kelver, Harold Kelver and Wayne Kelver.
Friends are invited to come and share memories and celebrate the life of Betty Harrell from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2007, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, Indiana, and one hour prior to the services at the Church on Saturday
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 18th, 2007, in the New Song Community Church which is on the south-east corner of Jefferson Street and Kingston Road. Rev. Justin Chambers and Rev. Lowell Ott, pastors of the church, will officiate,
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Betty’s memory may be made to the Marshall County 4H or to the New Song Community Church.
