Carol Ellen Karp

Carol Ellen Karp (nee, Zelenka), 85, passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2024. Born in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of Joseph and Pauline (Nych) Zelenka.

Carol dedicated her life to education, serving as a High School Mathematics Teacher with the Chicago Public Schools. She furthered her expertise by obtaining a Master's Degree in Mathematics from Northeastern Illinois University. Carol was also a dedicated member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bensenville, IL where she was a member for over 50 years.

In her free time, Carol loved to travel to Europe, exploring museums in Chicago, and traveling to Wisconsin. Carol found solace in reading mystery books, working puzzles, along with continuing education.

Carol is survived by her children, Theresa (Todd) Sage, Laura (James) Eck, and Robin McCallister; grandchildren, Crystal Karp, Jason Hamilton, Tracy Neff, Cathy Dykes, Leland Sage, Tanya McCauley, and Carla Flowers; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Crystal Rose, Felicia, Jillian, James, Luciano, Evan, Lily, and Penelope; great-great-grandson, Jedediah; and siblings, Donna Scott and Joseph Zelenka.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Pauline; and son-in-law, Leslie McCallister.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Carol will be laid to rest at Spaulding Catholic Cemetery in City Point, WI.
