Charles M. “Buck†Smith, 60, of Plymouth passed away peacefully on Saturday November 3, 2018 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Plymouth ending his battle with cancer.
He was born in Hammond, Indiana on August 16, 1958, son of Charles J. and Virginia M. Smith. He dedicated his life to maintaining the integrity of the “Campers Roostâ€. Second generation to the family owned and operated camp ground in Marshall County. Many of the campers knew him well and were there to support and embrace him through his journey. With a spirit of perseverance Buck could be found in his final days splitting wood or out on the tractor remaining committed to the completion of the seasons tasks. His hobbies included fishing the lakes, deer hunting and tinkering around his shop repairing boat motor engines. He loved the outdoors and the simple things in life like small talk around a bonfire, fish fry’s, country westerns and shooting his guns.
Buck is survived by his loving mother Virginia, his sisters Charlene McClelland and Kathy (Mark) McClelland, his brothers Darrin and Dennis Smith, Georgia Smith and their two children Nikki (David) Oberle and Michael (Andrea) Smith. He also leaves behind his four grandchildren Taylor and Talyn Oberle, Weston Charles and Violet Virginia Smith and many nieces and nephews.
Buck was preceded in death by his father, Charles J. Smith and brother in law Jeff McClelland.
