Claude M. Karn

Claude M. Karn, 90, a native of N. Manchester and a resident of the Peabody Retirement Center, died there at 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2002. Claude had been in failing health. He had lived in Plymouth from 1976 to 1995. Born in N. Manchester on June 11, 1912 , Claude was the son of Jacob and Anna Mishler Karn. Claude attended N. Manchester High School, where he served as a yell leader. On Sept. 16, 1940, in Milton, Ky., Claude and Mary E. Blickenstaff were married. Mary died a little over a year ago, on March 19, 2001. They had been husband and wife for almost 61 years. Claude was the area manager for International Minerals and Chemical Corp. for 45 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and traveling with his loving wife. In Plymouth, Claude was a member of the Plymouth Presbyterian Church, the Plymouth Lions Club and the Elks Lodge. He is survived by a son, Thomas Karn of Atlanta , Georgia . Claude was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse and two brothers. Friends may call at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. , Plymouth , from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 , and at the Peabody Retirement Center Chapel, 400 W. 7th St., N. Manchester , for one hour prior to services at 2 p.m. The Rev. Steven M. Mullin, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Plymouth , will officiate at the funeral services. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery , N. Manchester , Ind. Memorial gifts in Claude’s memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Plymouth , or to the Peabody Retirement Center .
