Daniel E. Markley, 100 years old, a former Bourbon resident, died of natural causes at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2000, in the Bremen Health Care Center where he had been a resident since 1991.
Dan was born on October 9, 1899, in Bourbon, Indiana, the son of Henry and Lydia Pippenger Markley. He attended Bourbon schools.
For most of his life he tended the family farm. He moved to Plymouth in 1974.
Several nieces and nephews survive his death. They are: Edna Markley, Raymond and Cecile Ullery and Mary Grossman, all of Plymouth and La Vanch Yarian and Fern and Roger Nifong, all of Bremen.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond and Frank Markley and two sisters, Ethel Yarian and Lillie Markley.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, February 7, 2000, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
The Rev. Alice Archer, pastor of the Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren where Dan was a member for 75 years, will officiate at his funeral on Tuesday, February 8, 2000, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
Interment will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Dan’s name may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren.
