Della Mae Watson

July 4, 1954 — September 14, 2021

Della M. Watson, 67, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief courageous battle with cancer at 6:54 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

Della was born on July 4, 1954, in Plymouth, Indiana to Richard E. and Dollie M. (Samuels) Ketcham and was soon nicknamed “little firecracker” by her father. It was in high school that Della walked past her future soulmate, Charles M. Watson. She would graduate from Plymouth High School with the class of 1973. In a country wedding at Eagle Creek Church in Knox, Della married Chuck on June 22, 1974. They were blessed with two children, Andrew and Heather. They were former members of Eagle Creek Church in Knox.

Della worked for Del Monte in Plymouth in the lab and running the mixing machine, until her retirement. She then used her artistic talents to create stunning floral displays and interior decorating for various businesses and private homes in Plymouth, including doing the seasonal outside floral planters at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home and The Remembrance Centre, as well as the wonderful interior decorating for Christmas. She got joy out of making the yearly wreaths for the American Legion Post #27 for Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day. She had an eye and a talent that was brilliant and stunning. She most recently was able to live out her dream of running a décor shop, Thistle & Clove, in Plymouth and was very fond of her vendors.

Della had the kindest, sweetest soul. Always wanting to know how you were doing. She was an angel with a funny, beautiful soul. She was loyal to her family and friends. Her children and grandchildren were her whole heart! She taught them forgiveness, strength and how to be a better person with each passing day.

She could be found spending countless hours in her garden and again, making flower arrangements. She loved, no was obsessed, with Christmas: music, shopping, and white fluffy snow. The joy of the season made her shine even brighter.

Della is deeply missed by her family which includes her son, Andrew (Amanda) Watson and children River and Ridge and Cameron, Cassidy and Brittany Morris; her daughter, Heather Hite and son Bohden; her mother, Dollie Ketcham of Plymouth; siblings: Marcia Allen, Nancy (Keith) Harbaugh, Lon Ketcham and Julie Ketcham as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is overjoyed to be with, once again, her soulmate and husband, Chuck who passed in 2016, her father, and uncles, John and Larry Ketcham.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021, from 11-1 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Charles Krieg officiating.

She will be laid to rest next to Chuck in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Colon Cancer Coalition 5666 Lincoln Drive, Suite 270, Edina, MN 55436 or to the family.
