DeLoris M. Nangle, 85 of Crown Point, Ind., formerly of Plymouth and Wabash, Ind., died, following an illness, at 11:05 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2000. DeLoris died in St. Anthony’s Medical Center, Crown Point, Ind.
She was born on Sept. 15, 1914, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Ace and Ester Mitchell Crosby. She graduated from an Indianapolis high school.
DeLoris and the Rev. William A. Nangle were married on March 17, 1934, in Indianapolis. Rev. Nangle, a former pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, Plymouth, died on Feb. 9, 1985.
She was a sales clerk at Plymouth’s J.C. Penney’s for several years and was an avid reader, enjoying books of all kinds.
DeLoris is survived by a son, William and Rita Nangle of Crown Point, Ind., and a foster daughter Audrey Carlton, Phoenix, Ariz.
Three grandsons, William Allen of Colorado, Scott David, Plymouth, Aaron Paul of Coral Gables, Florida: a step-granddaughter, Shelly Lewis of Schereville; three step-grandsons, Shane Byers of DeMotte, Jason Byers of Cape Coral, Fla. and Daren Byers of Crown Point also survive.
Two great-grandchildren, Adrianna and Andrew of Plymouth: six great step-grandchildren, Shane Jr. and Alexander Byers of DeMotte, Cane and Jordon Byers of Cape Coral, Fla., Kesi and Kayla Lewis of Schereville survive as well, together with two foster grandchildren and two foster great-grandchildren.
DeLoris was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, William, an infant son James, a brother Bill, and a foster grandson Bryan.
Friends may visit with DeLoris’ family on Wednesday, June 7, 2000, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Trinity United Methodist Church, 425 S. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Church. The Rev. Maurice Grindle, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in DeLoris’ memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
