Dennis “Denny” L. Thompson, 501 Northgate, Rochester, Ind., died of natural causes at 6:47 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2005, in the Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Denny was 58 years old.
He was born in LaPorte, Indiana on March 24, 1947, the son of Melvin E. and Faith Joanne Vollrath Thompson. He graduated from La Paz High School with the class of 1964.
A Viet Nam veteran, Denny served his country in the United States Navy.
A semi-driver, Denny worked for Indiana Heat Transfer as a programmer and supervisor.
He loved to fish and enjoyed fishing the local lakes for bluegill. His favorite spots were in Pretty Lake and Winona Lake. He was a devoted grandfather and looked forward to spending time with Alexis Hatfield and Andrew Thompson, his grandkids.
Denny is also survived by two sons, their spouses and a daughter.
His sons are: Corey and Denise Thompson and Danny and Jessica Thompson, all of Silver Lake, Ind. His daughter is Melissa Hatfield, Pierceton, Ind.
Brothers David and Rachel Thompson, Plymouth and Ronald Thompson, Rochester and Patricia Kline, Plymouth, also survive Denny’s death.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be welcomed by his family at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, on Sunday, November 27, 2005, between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. Funeral services for Denny will be held on at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2005, in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tyner Cemetery, Tyner, Ind. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Post 1162, Plymouth.
