Diana B. Byelick Mitchell

Diana B. Byelick Mitchell, 94, passed away at her home on June 25, 2024. She was born on October 17, 1929 in Calumet City, IL to Felix and Mary (Mikac) Horvatich.

Diana graduated from Thornton Fractional High School in 1947. She was united in Holy Matrimony with Nick Byelick on November 11, 1953 in Calumet City, IL. Being a loving husband to Diana and steadfast father to their children, Mike and Tom, he preceded them in death on February 7, 1969.

She would go on to work as a bank teller for 40 years, retiring in 1981. Diana remarried in 1981 in to John Mitchell. John preceded her in death in 2010.

Diana was a faithful member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Hammond, IN for many years. Upon moving to Plymouth, IN, she was then a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church in Plymouth, IN.

Diana loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an excellent cook and would never hesitate to spend a great deal of time making a great meal for her family. Cooking was her passion and she was great at it. Her trays of Christmas cookies and nut rolls were always very appreciated by her family.

Diana will be missed by her children, Mike (Patty) Byelick and Tom Byelick; along with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Mary (Late Husband, Rudy) Pesut and sister-in-law, Gloria Horvatich. Diana is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Diana is preceded in death by her husbands, Nick and John; parents, Felix and Mary; siblings, Walter (Ann) Horvatich and Richard Horvatich; infant son, Mark Byelick and granddaughter Katherine Byelick.

A private service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL.
