Donald “Don” Maas, 69, 16093 W. 12B Road, died of natural causes at 1:08 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2006.
A native of Schererville, Indiana, he had lived in Plymouth, Indiana, for the past 12 years.
Born in Gary, Indiana, on April 7, 1937, Don was the son of Raymond and Dorothy Linke Maas.
He graduated from Dyer High School with the class of 1956.
On September 28, 1957, in Hammond, Indiana, Don and Sharon Brant were married. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family.
For 47 years he worked in management in the retail shoe business, retiring from Metzler’s Shoes, Nappanee, Indiana.
Don loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed being outdoors and traveling.
He was a loyal and enthusiastic fan of Notre Dame Football and the Chicago White Sox.
Don is survived by Sharon, his devoted wife of 49 years and by their two daughters: Hope Murphy of Plymouth and Christina Maas of Kouts, Indiana.
Three grandchildren also survive. They are: Jared and Tracie Murphy of Branson, Missouri: Kristiana Murphy and Brant Murphy of Plymouth.
A great-grandson, Maguire Murphy of Branson, Missouri, survives as well.
A brother and sister-in-law, Raymond Charles and Dawn Maas, of Wheeler, Indiana also survive.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carl and Richard Maas.
There will be no visitation or funeral services
The Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, will be handling arrangements.
Memorials to Don may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
