Doris Maxine Grass, 90, of 905 Berkley, died of natural causes in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, at 7:35 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2009.
A lifetime Marshall County resident, Doris was born on a farm near Bourbon on December 30, 1918. Her parents were Clarence E. and Myrtle H. (Morwiser) Pfeiffer.
She attended Tippecanoe High School and graduated with the Class of 1935.
On October 5, 1940, in Tippecanoe, IN., Doris and Lloyd Grass were married.
She was employed for 11 years at the Miller Bearing Company, retiring in 1984.
When her children were growing up, Doris was active in the LaVille PTA. She loved her family and was a wonderful homemaker. Making a big meal for a large family gathering was as much a treat for her as her beef and noodles and fried chicken were to her guests. She enjoyed reading, sewing and working outdoors. She listened to Country Western music, appreciated political humor and in recent years became quite the NASCAR enthusiast.
Doris is survived by two daughters: Carol Elaine Haas of Plymouth and her children; Carrie (Paul) Harrell of Plymouth, Gregory (Sheila) Haas of Lakeville and Kelli (Keith) Snyder of Plymouth and Candance Ann (Jay) Yeager of Zionsville, IN and their children; Samuel Yeager and Henry Yeager both of Zionsville. Six great-grandchildren also survive.
A brother, Don (Donnabelle) Pfeiffer, Rochester, IN. also survives together with four sisters:Helen (Fred) DeMien, St. Charles, IL.: Marilyn “June” (Keith) Miller, Elkhart, IN.: Betty DeMien, Macy, IN., and Joan (Robert) Tharp, South Bend, IN. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers: LaMar and Eugene Pfeiffer and a son-in-law: Don Haas.
Friends are invited by her family to celebrate the life of Doris Grass from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 17th, 2009 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Doris will follow visitation at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. The Rev. Junior Bose of Rochester will officiate.
Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, Plymouth.
