Dorland C. Baker, 84, died on Thursday, September 6th at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL. He was an 82 year resident of Plymouth before recently relocating to Sun City in Huntley, IL with his wife Marie.
Born in Plymouth on November 5, 1922, Dorland was the son of Harrison and Lola Baker.
After graduating from Plymouth High School, Dorland served in World War II in the Army Air Corps in the Burma/India/China theatre.
On January 31, 1948, Dorland was married to Marie at St. Clement’s Catholic Church in Chicago, IL.
Dorland was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee.
Dorland leaves his loving family including his wife, Marie, his two sons: David Baker (and David’s wife Terry) of Algonquin, IL and Mike Baker of Park City, UT along with three granddaughters and one grandson (Shannon, Katie, Alison and Josh). His two brothers (Dale and Wayne) preceded Dorland in death.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at the New Oak Hill Cemetery chapel on Wednesday, September 12th between 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm. Family services will be held immediately thereafter.
Memorial contributions in Dorland’s name may be made to the American Heart Association.
