Dorothy E. Billings, 77, died of natural causes at 7:55 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2001, at the Countryside Place Nursing Home, Knox, where she had been a resident since September of 1995.
A former Grovertown resident, Dorothy was born at home in Tyner, Ind., on January 22, 1924. She was the daughter of Elmer R. and Matilda Holderead Cudney. She attended Tyner schools.
On February 2, 1943, in Chicago, Dorothy and Floyd L. Billings were married. Floyd died on September 26, 1988.
A homemaker, Dorothy was a private person who enjoyed her time at home. She liked to crochet and favored working regular and crossword puzzles. She liked spending time outdoors and loved all animals, especially dogs.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Donna Huffer of Tyner and by Carl and Evelyn Cudney, a brother and sister-in-law, of Kuhn, Texas. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and Larry Allen Billings, her son. Three brothers: Raymond, Bob and Jess Cudney and three sisters: Goldie McNeal, Myrtle Preston and Violet Prater have also died.
Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2001, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
The funeral services will follow visitation at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Dorothy’s memory may be given to charities of the donor’s choice.
