Dorothy A. Orr, 88, 400 W. Washington St., Plymouth, a lifetime area resident, died of natural causes at 5:52 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, 2002. Dorothy died in the Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, West Virginia. Born in Plymouth on Mar. 22, 1914, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Alice Lowry Stiles. She attended Plymouth schools. She was first married to James Rolland Rupert. Her second husband, C. Vernon Orr, and she were married on July 15, 1949, in Waveland, Ind. They have both preceded Dorothy in death. Dorothy retired from Parkview Hospital, Plymouth, after 20 years as supervisor of their Central Supply department. A Green Bay Packer fan all of her life, she loved to watch their football games on TV. She also enjoyed old western videos and liked to crochet, quilt and embroider, making lovely heirlooms for her family. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren. Dorothy is survived by a son and two daughters, eight grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Her son, James R. (Joyce) Rupert lives in Scottsville, Mich. One daughter, Barbara (Harry) Harness lives in Nappanee, Ind., and the other, Pat Pipkin, resides in Bradley, West Virginia. A brother, Elmer M. Stiles, lives in Plymouth, Ind. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and a granddaughter, Jackie Mlekodaj. Six brothers: Howard, Willis, Ellis, James, Robert and Arthur Stiles, together with three sisters, Bessie Cappus, Velva Hedges and Rose Webb have also died. Friends are invited to share memories with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Delmas Stiles, Dorothy’s nephew, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 13, 2002, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Tyner Cemetery, Tyner, Ind. Memorial gifts in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Marshall County Hospice or the Marshall County Cancer Association.
