Dr. Edwin W. Jenney, DVM, 89, 635 Oakhill Ave. died in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, of natural causes at 1:20 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2009.
Edwin was born in Indianapolis on August 11, 1919. He was the son of Frank O. and Gladys Fay Thornburgh Jenney.
He graduated from high school in California and graduated veterinarian school at Washington State University.
On August 24, 1944, in Rosalia, WA Edwin and Elmerine Widman were married. Elmerine later died from Multiple Sclerosis on March 30, 1959.
On June 25, 1960, in Washington, D.C. Edwin and Iris Gerlea Dudley were married.
Dr. Jenney worked from 1943 to 1984 — 41 years– for the United States Department of Agriculture. He retired as a veterinarian medical officer in 1984.
An avid reader, he loved to garden and enjoyed hunting. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children.
He was a member of the Campus Baptist Church, Ames, Iowa and belonged to the Mayflower Society and the Gideon’s International Club.
Edwin is survived by his wife, Iris, Plymouth and by two sons, Edwin W. Jenney, Jr., Coldwater, MI., and James Allen (Cindy) Jenney, Argos.
Eight grandchildren also survive. They are: Joshua Jenney, Caleb Jenney, Kyle Jenney, of Coldwater, MI. Alishia Foster of Beckley, WV, and Amber Jenney, Chance Jenney, Dalton Jenney and Blaine Jenney of Argos.
A great-grandson, Alek Foster of Beckley, WV, survives as well.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Elmerine Jenney.
Friends are invited to share memories and celebrate the life of Edwin Jenney on Saturday, June 20, 2009, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Edwin will follow visitation at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Robert Mace, pastor of the First Baptist of Argos will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given in Edwin’s memory to the Gideon’s International.
