On Friday, December 8th, 2023, Dr. Jon Bernard Kubley passed away with his family at his bedside. He is survived by his loving wife and partner Mary B. Kubley, his three children; Nicholas, Margaret and William Kubley, Daughter-in-Law Ashley Kubley, grand-daughter Carson Kubley, and siblings Dan Kubley, Pam Barsness, Becky Dwyer, Rod Kubley and Dave Kubley. He was preceded in death by his parents; Dr. James and Katie Kubley.
Jon was born in Plymouth, Indiana in 1953. He was valedictorian of the Plymouth High School graduating class of 1971, finished his college undergraduate degree at Indiana University in three years, graduated IU medical school, and completed his residency in Wilmington, Delaware.
Jon moved back to Plymouth in 1981 and joined his father and brothers in their family medical practice, where he was a trusted physician for hundreds of families until 2008.
Continuing his passion to help those in need, he then became the Medical Director of Center for Hospice Care, going above and beyond for families throughout Northern Indiana. During his tenure as a physician, he served on the board of Ancilla College, St. Joseph Hospital, The American Lung Association, and many other charitable efforts aimed at helping the local community. He retired in 2018.
He attended St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where he was senior warden, member of the choir and helped run their non-food pantry.
Jon was a dedicated husband and beloved father. He and his wife Mary were married for 45 wonderful years. They loved the arts. He was very supportive and proud of his creative children and enjoyed traveling with Mary to see them perform. Their dedication to staying connected with family and friends was deeply felt and will be sorely missed.
Jon was a true renaissance man who enjoyed reading, playing classical guitar, and creative craftsmanship. His hobbies were a testament to his curious mind and lifelong passion for learning. He was patient, intelligent and humble. He was generous with his sense of humor, never missing an opportunity to make someone laugh.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December, 18, 2023 from 10-11 am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 400 N. Center St. Plymouth, IN 46563 in the Parish Hall. A Requiem Mass will follow with Rev. Bernadette M. Hartsough officiating.
Inurnment will take place in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Columbarium.
