Edna Cleveland, 83, a lifetime Plymouth area resident, died at 2 p.m., at her residence, 258 Elliott Ave., Plymouth, on Friday, January 26, 2001. Charles, her husband of sixty years, preceded her in death just slightly over two months ago, on November 20, 2000.
Edna was born in Plymouth, the daughter of August and Sadie Rieken Huge on March 5, 1917. She graduated from West High School as the valedictorian of the class of 1935.
Edna and Charles were married on December 3, 1939, in Plymouth.
A homemaker and a nurse’s aide she worked for eleven years in the RN Nursing Home in Teegarden, retiring in 1980. Edna and Charles were also caretakers of the Conservation Clubhouse of the Plymouth Park System for eight years.
Edna is survived by two sons and their families. They are: Charles L. and Christine Cleveland of Plymouth and their children: Deanna, Lisa, Emily and Tony Cleveland. Also James E. and Marie Cleveland, Hinckley, Ohio, and their children: Peggy MacCurdy, Debra Miller and James A. Cleveland.
Four great-grandchildren also survive, along with three sisters: Mabel Musser of Earl Park, IN, Dorothy Berger of Mesa, AZ, Clara Baker of Plymouth, and a brother Paul Huge of Monticello, In.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services in the funeral home will be officiated by the Rev. James Baker, pastor of the Blissville Church of the Brethren of which Edna was a member, on Monday, January 29, 2001 at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Edna’s memory may be made to the Marshall County Hospice or to the Blissville Church of the Brethren.
