Plymouth

Edwin H. Schilling, 64, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 25, 2024. Born on January 15, 1960 in Blue Island, IL, Ed was the son of Edwin Schilling and Diane Soder. Diane later married Larry Morehouse who played a significant role in Ed’s upbringing.

A proud graduate of Oak Forest High School, Ed began his career as a truck driver at his family’s business, Morehouse Cartage. He dedicated several decades to this profession until his health deteriorated.

Ed's life was enriched by his relationship with Shelby Bettress, whom he met over 20 years ago. Together, they shared a deep bond and a life filled with love and laughter.

Cooking was one of Ed's passions, and many cherished memories revolve around his time in the kitchen. His family will always remember his delicious breaded pork tenderloins.

Those who knew Ed will fondly recall his infectious laugh and remarkable sense of humor. He was a true people person, effortlessly forming connections and brightening the lives of those around him. Ed also had a compassionate heart, particularly for animals.

In 2022, Ed was baptized at the House of Prayer United Pentecostal Church.

Ed is survived by his significant other, Shelby Bettress; children, Megan (Paul) Hodges, Rebecca Schilling, and Cody Schilling; grandchildren, Amelia Gillespie, Abigail Gillespie, and Tucker Hodges; and brother, Dave Schilling.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Diane; step-father, Larry Morehouse; and sister, Carrie Thompson.

In honor of Ed’s love of animals, memorial contributions can be made to the Marshall County Humane Society, PO Box 22, Plymouth, IN 46563.
