Effie M. Stanton, 92, living since Sept. of 1998 at 316 Woodies Lane, Bremen, formerly of Plymouth, died of natural causes at 5:40 a.m., Monday, August 21, 2000, in the Community Hospital of Bremen. Effie had also resided in Milford and Starke County during her lifetime.
She was born in Teegarden, Indiana, on April 25, 1908, the daughter of Oren and Lydia Syders Litchfield. Effie attended Teegarden schools, graduating from the 8th grade.
On April 30, 1924, in Plymouth, Effie and Tillis W. Stanton were married. Tillis died on September 4, 1982.
Effie was a hardworking farmer’s wife and mother of their six children.
She enjoyed crocheting and making jewelry. She was a good seamstress and made most of her children’s clothes when they were young.
Effie is survived by three daughters, two sons, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Her daughters are Juanita and Edgar Wilcox, Plymouth: Normale and Ronald Bennett, Monterey: Marcheta Rudolph, Phoenix, Arizona. Her sons are: Werdie and Wanetta Stanton, Diamond Lake, Michigan and Phillip and Jenny Stanton, Ocala, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Victor, a granddaughter and several sisters and brothers.
Friends may call at the JOHNSON-DANIELSON FUNERAL HOME, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth on Wednesday, August 23, 2000, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services for Effie will be on Thursday, August 24, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. in the JOHNSON-DANIELSON FUNERAL HOME. Pastor Doug Jividen of the Plymouth Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Grovertown Cemetery, Grovertown, Indiana.
