Elizabeth Maureen LaVerne Wieger, 68, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton, IN, died at 12:21 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2006 in LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, IN. Elizabeth had lived in Mission, Texas before moving back to Indiana four weeks ago.
The daughter of William Boyd and Elizabeth Lucille May Bowen Short, Elizabeth was born on January 28, 1938, in Plymouth, IN. She graduated from Plymouth High School, and furthered her education by taking training to be a nurse’s aide.
On November 3, 1956, Elizabeth and James Andrew Wieger were married in South Bend, IN.
Elizabeth retired as a production worker in a factory. Before becoming a factory worker, she worked in nursing homes and cared for the dependant and elderly.
Her heart was in crocheting, and she was extraordinary at making dolls and dresses. She also loved the large wild cats, the Black Panther and White Tigers being her favorites.
Elizabeth is survived by Jim, her husband of almost 50 years, a daughter, Ellen M. Nieubuurt of Walkerton, IN, three sons: James W. Wieger of Grovertown, IN; Tom E. Wieger of Mission, TX and Philip A. Wieger of North Liberty, IN, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to share memories and visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2006, in the Walkerton Pentecostal Church, 1174 Lake Street, Walkerton, IN.
Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Dwayne Smith, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday in the Church.
Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, IN.
