Elna Stallwood

At the age of 98, Elna went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 25, 2005. She was born December 20, 1906, in Plymouth, IN, the oldest of eight children. She married Canadian, Robert Stallwood, in 1929 and bore three children, Verna Jean, Robert and Larry. Elna was widowed in 1961. She had been employed for many years at Blocks Department Store in Indianapolis. Elna loved to crochet afghans, garden, read and pray for her family, friends and those in need. She moved from Indianapolis to East Lansing, MI in 2000 to live with daughter, Verna Jean and son-in-law Dr. Joseph Hess. In October of 2004 a hip fracture and failing health led to her spending her final days in Burcham Hills Health Center, East Lansing. Elna is survived by two siblings, a sister, Frances Crockett of Englewood, FL., and brother, Dr. Arthur Beyler of Cape Cod, MA; daughter, Verna Jean; son, Robert of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great – great grandchild. Elna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents and a son, Larry in 1961.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 2:00 pm in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, IN with visitation being held one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will be held in the Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
