Elsie N. Henderson, a former resident of Pilgrim Manor, Plymouth, died of natural causes at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2005, in Americare Living Center of Anderson, Ind., where she had lived since November of 2004. Elsie was 90 years old.
She had previously lived in Hammond, Ind., from 1935 until 1966 and in Rochester, Ind., from 1966 until she moved to Plymouth.
Elsie was born in Kramer, Ind., on March 4, 1915, the daughter of Archie Edward and Nellie L. Carswell Hartz. She attended Kramer Community schools.
On August 6, 1935, in Hammond, Ind., Elsie and Harold C. Henderson Sr. were married. Harold died on April 27, 1973.
A homemaker, she enjoyed reading, embroidery and knitting.
She attended the Southside Church of God in South Bend.
Elsie is survived by one daughter, Helen M. and Roger Caudles of Middletown, Ohio, and four sons. They are: Robert A. and Sherri Henderson of Azle, Texas; Michael and Alvina Henderson, River Heights, Utah; Harold C. Jr. and Sandy Henderson, Dayton, Ohio., and Daniel W. and Marcia Henderson, Bloomington, Ind.
Four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse and two daughters and a son. They are Bonna M. Toth, Lona Howdeshell and William Henderson.
Friends will be welcomed by the family to share in the celebration of Elsie’s long life. Calling will be on Thursday, July 14, 2005, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Ind.
Funeral services will be on Friday, July 15, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Greg Crump, pastor of the Southside Church of God will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Ind.
Memorial gifts in Elsie’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
