Our beautiful Mom, Elsie Taft Parrish, 90 years old has gone to be with the Lord on February 9, 2023. Her smile was like sunshine, had a heart of gold, and genuinely loved everyone. She was a great southern cook (known for her Southern Fried Chicken and Sweet Tea) and was at her happiest with all her family gathered around her dinner table enjoying her cooking. She is a member of Plymouth Baptist Church. She loved serving the Lord in many ministries all through her Christian life.
Elsie was born on April 24, 1932, in Pearson, Georgia to the late Johnnie and Emma Taft. On June 16, 1950, she married Harold I. Parrish on a country porch in Pearson, Georgia. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2017, after 66 years of marriage. She worked most of her working career for Lawyers and Manufacturing as an Accountant. Her last position was Vice President of Parrish’s Country Lad farms (Family Pickle Company) in Sanford, Florida, beside her husband until they sold the business and retired in 1998.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Cathy Parrish Hayes (Bill Hayes) of Fort Pierce, Florida and Karen J. Bowman (Hal Bowman) of Plymouth, Indiana; four grandchildren whom she adored, Carrie Hayes of Florida, Heather Roy (Rhett Roy) of Florida, Heath Bowman (Quinn Bowman) of Indiana, and Ashley Powell (James Powell) of Florida; Eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Ann Laura Hughes (Richard Hughes) of Illinois and sisters-in-law, Jenelle Taft and Beverly Parrish, both of Georgia, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death, along with her husband were her three brothers, Carlton Taft, Jack Taft, Junior Taft and a sister Wilma Giddens.
Visitation will be held at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, from 11-1 p.m. with funeral services immediately following.
Elsie will be laid to rest with her husband, Harold, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023, in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Adel, GA.
