Eudelia G. “Lela†Duenez, 94, passed away into the loving arms of Christ early Monday morning on May 8, 2017 at the Center for Hospice Care in South Bend.
Lela was born on December 20, 1922 in Rio Bravo, Mexico to Florencio and Adelea (Flores) Garza. She attended college in Mexico, taking business courses. After moving to Plymouth, she attended Ball State to receive a teaching degree. At the time she was assisting the migrant workers who attended St. Michael Catholic Church.
She moved to Plymouth in April of 1960, and worked for United Technology as a wire inspector for eight years before her retirement. Lela was is survived by her three children: Dolores (Eddie) Phillips of Kokomo, IN, John (Susan) Duenez of Noblesville, IN and Jose “Joe†(Carol) Duenez of Plymouth; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Guadalupe Duenez.
Visitation will held from 12-2 p.m. on Friday May 12, 2017 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 612 N. Walnut Street, Plymouth. Mass will follow at 2 p.m. in the church with Fr. John Korcsmar C.S.C. officiating.
Burial will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
