Evelyn Kovaly

Evelyn Kovaly, 90, formerly of Clifton, NJ and Palm Bay, FL spent her last 17 years in Plymouth. She died of natural causes at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.

Evelyn was born in Passaic, New Jersey, on August 29, 1918. She was the daughter of Carlisle Goodrich and Ethel Smith.

On July 31, 1943, Evelyn and Michael Kovaly were married in Clifton, New Jersey.

A homemaker most of her life, she also worked in clerical positions at Color Type, Dun And Bradstreet, and Essex Chemical, all in New Jersey.

She sewed, crocheted and knitted lovely things, was an extensive traveler and enjoyed looking after and taking care of her family.

She was a member of the Allwood Community church in Clifton, New Jersey.

Evelyn is survived by Robert (Karen) Kovaly, her son and daughter-in-law of Palm Coast, Florida, and by a daughter, Muriel and her husband, Steve Martin, of Hickory Road in Argos, Indiana.

Two granddaughters, Rebecca. A. (Sid) Stamm, Bloomington, Indiana, and Jill F. Kovaly, San Diego, California, and a grandson, Zachary T. Martin, Pasco, Washington, also survive, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Muriel Smith and a brother, William Smith.

A time of sharing with the family will be held on Saturday September 27, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

A memorial service will be held immediately following at 8 p.m. The Rev. Cornelius Tolsma will officiate

Interment will be held at a later date in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson, New Jersey.

Memorial gifts in Evelyn’s memory may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society or The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
