Evelyn May Rowe, 86, peacefully passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth.
Evelyn was born on May 6, 1935, in Knox, Indiana to Graham and Carrie (King) McCormick, but was raised from birth by her adopted parents, Paul and Nellie Hansen. She attended Knox Schools.
She would go with a girlfriend to a get together and meet her future husband, Kelley Rowe. The two would wed and welcome five children.
Evelyn was very caring, kind, and funny. A homemaker, she was an amazing mother, and loved as her family grew to include grandchildren. She was very family oriented and treasured times together.
While most dislike the thought of moving, Evelyn enjoyed moving around into different homes throughout her life. She was an orange cat lover, enjoyed reading the newspaper and going to yard sales. She loved hard candies and enjoyed cooking, a family favorite being her soup beans. Evelyn enjoyed many trips with her husband to visit his family in eastern Kentucky and fell in love with the mountains. And when back home, a car ride on the back country roads gave her joy and relaxation. She always said she was going to move where it was warm, but never had the opportunity.
She taught her loved ones to be courteous and kind, and to always be honest. She was a firm believer in the Lord and was a former member of the Assembly of God in Michigan City, Indiana.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Harold (Donna) Rowe of New Buffalo, MI, Ken (Kim) Rowe of Galien, MI, Gweneth (Tim Bodine) Nelson of Monterey, IN, Shelley (Carl) Staces of Monterey, IN, Kelley (Martha) Rowe of Plymouth and Carson Rowe of Plymouth; family friend, Jimmy Nelson of Little Rock, AK; grandchildren: Tahyra, Shea, Shawn, Ashley, Justice (Mackenna), Skylynn, Dakotta, Morgan and Cody; and great-grandchildren: Justin, Krista, Kadence, Daisy, Dixie, Willow, Harper, Harlow, CJ, Izabelle and Izak.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kelley and her adopted parents and parents.
Per her wishes, no services will be held.
