Everett R. Shirar, 89, died peacefully at Crockett Hospital in Lawrenceburg, TN on Saturday, September 27, 2008. Born in Saco, MT and raised in Plymouth, IN, he lived on the Big Island of Hawaii for 11 years, then in Ft. Wayne for 18 years, where he worked at the VA Hospital and Lutheran Homes, before retiring to Tennessee. He was a WWII Army veteran, a retired nurse anesthetist, and a member of the Wesleyan Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Wilma (Duncan) of Lawrenceburg, TN, son, George (Anita) Shirar of Lexington, KY, daughters Cynthia (Robert) Gerard of Ft. Wayne, Cathy (John) Videne, of Leoma, TN; and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Ester Shirar, sister, Estella Mae McKee of Elkhart and brother, Wayne Hepler of Warsaw. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008, at the New Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel, Plymouth, IN, with calling one hour prior. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth, IN. Memorials may be made to The Gideons International or Indiana Wesleyan University.
