Frances Virginia Ragsdale Sam, 99, went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday March 27, 2016 in Georgetown, Texas.
She was born on September 6, 1916 in Waterloo, Iowa in Blackhawk County to Alma Bell Smith Ragsdale and Floyd Chauncy Ragsdale. She graduated from Sumner High School in 1934. Frances entered nurses training at St. Mary’s Mercy Hospital in Gary, Indiana where she met her husband.
On July 9, 1937 in Valparaiso, Indiana she was united in marriage with Andrew Sam Jr. They were married for 60 years.
She was a member of the First Community Church of God in LaPaz, Indiana. She is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Leander Chapter #73 in Leander, Texas.
Frances loved music and enjoyed playing keyboard. She also loved baking, especially making bread.
She is survived by her two daughters, their spouses, and son: Deanna (John) Comeford of Brownsburg, IN, Douglas of Florida and Linda (Sidney) Hayes of Texas. 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, her parents, a sister, two brothers and a grandson.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 8 2016 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN, conducted by Rev. Sam McClimans of the First Community Church of God in LaPaz, IN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of the service in the funeral home.
Family burial will take place in the Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso, Indiana.
