Fredrick Lynn Young, 42, of Bourbon and Wawaka, IN, died of natural causes at 10:44 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

Born in Plymouth, IN, on May 16, 1965, Fred was the son of Danny Young and Naomi (Pickerl) Young. He was preceded in death by his father.

Fred attended the JESSIE program at Argos High School. He was employed at the Foundations Center in Albion, IN.

He enjoyed summer camp at Epworth Forest, traveling with his family, music, his daily walks, bowling and most of all, being around people. Some of Fred’s favorite music included anything classical, such as “The Sound of Music” and “Oklahoma”, the jam session at Grace Village and the Masterworks Festival in Winona Lake every summer.

For the last six years, Fred walked the Mackinac Bridge over Labor Day weekend.

Fred recently shared in the excitement of the Triton Men’s Basketball State Championship.

Fred is survived by his mother, Naomi Young of Bourbon and Wawaka; a sister, Carman Young of Fort Wayne, IN; a brother, Greg (B.J.) Young of Locust Grove, GA; an aunt, Hattie Bierly of Atwood; an uncle, Dwight Pickerl of Indianapolis and cousins. Friends are invited to celebrate Fred’s life with his family on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

Funeral services for Fred will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008, in the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Day, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Bourbon, where Fred attended, will officiate.

Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a memorial contribution to the Food Pantry at the United Methodist Church in Bourbon, or the Masterworks Festival (www.masterworksfestival.org).
