Gary Lee Ziessler, 89, went to be with his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, on October 16, 2024. He was born on March 20, 1935 in Findlay, Ohio to Colleen (Marquette) Romick and Robert Romick. Gary was later adopted by his step-father, Don Ziessler, when his mother married again. Gary had one sister, Karen (Ziessler) Melroy.
Gary enlisted in the army in 1955 and was stationed in El Paso, Texas where he served as a clerk. Gary loved to tell stories about his job as a disc jockey for military base dances and visits to Mexico to enjoy the spicy food and dancing.
After returning to Ohio, Gary met and married Susie Brown in 1963 and had three children; Mark (Becky) Stockard, Michael (Tiffany) Stockard, and Melissa (Chris) Enstad.
Gary’s career with Equifax brought him to Plymouth, Indiana and in his spare time he opened a train and hobby shop, which he operated until he married Cora Lee (Kring) Ziessler in 1974. Gary adopted her two sons: Rob (Janis) Ziessler and Kenn Ziessler, who are forever grateful for his Christian influence and for the role model and protector he has always been in their lives. Gary and Cora enjoyed 48 happy years together until her death in 2023.
Gary loved his grandson, Zachary Ziessler, and they enjoyed going to electric train swap meets, feeding the birds, car shows, and learning about trees and flowers. Gary was loved and “adopted" by Joshua (Emma), Jonathan, Chris (Calie) and Cassandra Eberly as Grandpa Gary and Addie, Asher, and Ellie Eberly as Great-Grandpa Gary.
Gary enjoyed electric trains, birds, flowers, gospel music, yardwork, church, hot cocoa with whipped cream, and being with his family. Gary and Cora often went to Michigan to spend a day together and gather whatever fruit and produce was in season.
Gary was fun loving, always singing and teasing. All who knew him were blessed by his love of life and overflowing, unconditional love of them which flowed from the unconditional love of our savior Jesus Christ. We are grateful for his presence and influence in our lives and he will be missed.
