Geneva A. Thomas, 97, a Plymouth resident most of her life, died at 8:40 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2009 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
The daughter of Frank L. and Margaret M DuCharme Peregrine, Geneva was born on July 9, 1912 in Rensselaer. She was a 1931 graduate of Plymouth High School.
On July 27, 1938, Geneva and Paul W. Thomas were married in Plymouth. Paul died on July 24, 1985.
Geneva and Paul had owned “The Paint Shop” on Water St. from 1946 to 1960.
She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, golf and reading.
Geneva is survived by two daughters: Jean Clouse of Palmyra, VA and Janice Rankin of Greenville, TN., seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Virginia Stills and five brothers: Calvin Peregrine, Dale Peregrine, Garold Peregrine, Lawrence Peregrine and Wallace Peregrine.
Friends are invited to share their memories and visit with Geneva’s family from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2009, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. A funeral mass, officiated by the Rev. Fr. John Schramm, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2009 in the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 400 N. Center St., Plymouth, where Geneva was a member. Burial will follow in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Geneva’s memory may be given to the St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
