Helen T. “Geri” Hunley, 75, died from cancer and an extended diabetic illness in Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, at 10:40 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2004. Geri had lived at Mill Pond in Plymouth since 1994, coming from Chicago.
She was born in Chicago, on November 30, 1928, the daughter of Max Bernard and Helen Barbara Surski Gomolski. She graduated from Chicago Bowen High School.
On December 7, 1946, in Chicago, Geri and Frederick R. Hunley were married.
A homemaker, she enjoyed playing pinochle, bowling and roller skating which is how the couple met. She had a vast collection of family photos.
She was a member of St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church in Chicago.
In addition to her husband, Frederick, Plymouth, Geri is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry A. and Stephen Slater, Plymouth, and a son Wayne E. and Virginia Hunley, Schereville, Ind.
Four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews survive as well.
Geri was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers.
There will be no public service or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Geri’s memory be made to the American Diabetes Association, 53631 Fir Road, Granger, Indiana 46530-8581.
