Irene C. Ayers

Irene C. Ayers, 95, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. Born on December 2, 1927 in Chicago, ILL. she was the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Bauer) Balogh.

She attended LaPaz High School graduating with the class of 1945. Irene went to Cosmetology School and became a licensed beautician. Her mother knew of a man named James who owned Ayers’ Garage with his father and Elizabeth sent Irene into get her car fixed. From that moment on Irene knew that James would be the one she would share her life with.

Together they owned Ayers’ greenhouses and gardening. Known as a determined strong woman, always caring for her children’s needs and making sure that they went to college to earn their degrees. Irene was a smart business woman that had the ability to take charge of any situation to see it to completion. Most importantly she adored her family all of her life.

Irene enjoyed gardening, collecting stamps and coin even making sure the coins would look pristine by washing them. An avid lover of animals where multiple strays would make their way to find a new home on the farm. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Plymouth, offering her time to help with the Christmas Bazaars.

She is survived by her son James Ayers of Alta Loma, CA; daughter Connie (Barry) Dean of Naperville, Ill; grandson Jason C. Dean of Naperville, Ill.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents, husband James, brothers: Peter Balogh, Marvin Balogh, sisters: Kay Kyle, Elizabeth Harcar, Marie Baker and Anne Drubert.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 10-11 am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 612 N Walnut St. Plymouth, IN 46563. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 11 am with Fr. Fernando Jimenez officiating.

Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
