Funeral services for Irvin Victor Yeazel will be held on Tuesday, August 8th at 10 a.m. in the Johnson – Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, Indiana. Pastor Larry Shutske of the Agape` Fellowship, Bremen, will officiate. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 6 – 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Military graveside rites provided by the James Lowell Corey – American Legion Post #68 of Argos, will honor Vic’s service to his country at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, following services in the funeral home.
Irvin Victor “Vic” Yeazel, 84, a former resident of E. South St. Argos, died following an illness on Friday, August 4, 2000, at 9:14 a.m. in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, 222 Parkview Drive, Plymouth, where he had been a resident for two years.
Vic was born on November 19, 1915, in Wakarusa, Ind., the son of George Jackson and Nancy Louretta Harrel Yeazel. He attended school in a one-room Walnut Township schoolhouse.
A United States Army veteran of World War II, Vic was one of our heroes who landed on the beach in Normandy, France.
On July 7, 1946, in Mishawaka, he married Lorraine Pfaller who preceded him in death on November 14, 1986.
In his boyhood, Vic’s family worked for many area farmers. He was a self-employed house painter. He also was employed as a janitor and a truck driver. A musician, he played fiddle with the Yellow Creek Ramblers.
He loved music. He liked to fish and enjoyed all sorts of automobiles.
Vic is survived by five sons and two daughters. His sons are: Kenneth Irvin Yeazel, Allan Dale Yeazel and his wife Terry, all of Argos, Stephen Leroy and Mona Yeazel, Monterey, Ind., Dennis Keith and Michele Yeazel and Randall Owen and Kristy Yeazel, all of Lake of the Woods.
His daughters are Karen Darlene Yeazel, Syracuse, Ind., and Susan Janelle and David Richardson, Roann, Ind.
Twenty-one grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren survive also together with Flossie Denney, a sister, of Argos.
Vic was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son; Leonard Bruce Yeazel, three sisters and one brother: Cora Denney, Fern Lyons, Joy Yeazel and Dale Yeazel.
Memorial gifts in Vic’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
