James H. “Jim” Phillips, 124 Shalley Drive, Plymouth, died in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, at 6:31 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2001. Jim had been a Plymouth resident for the last 20 years coming from Anderson, Ind. He was 48 years old. Born in Seymour, Ind., on Feb. 5, 1953, he was the son of James and Bertha Day Phillips. He graduated from Anderson High School and later attended classes in order to receive his real estate license. On July 26, 1986, in the Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church, Jim and Sharon M. Rowe were married. He worked as an insurance adjuster for a number of years and was also self-employed in construction for many years. Jim liked to hunt and fish and was a member of the Elks’ Lodge in Plymouth. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, Plymouth, and by two sons and two daughters. His sons, both in Plymouth, are Justin Phillips, 12, and Joshua Phillips, 8 years old. His daughters both live in Anderson, Ind. They are: Jamie Newte and her daughter, Jaylynn, and Ginger Phillips. Jim’s mother, Bertha Phillips and two sisters, Judy and Frank Presley and Debbie and Billy Mahoney, all of Anderson, also survive, together with a third sister, Terry Kyle of Moorehaven, Fla. and his mother and father-in-law, Gene and Patty Rowe of Argos, Ind. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, August 17, 2001, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Indiana. Funeral services on Saturday, August 18, 2001, will be at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Les Kephart, pastor of the Plymouth Wesleyan Church where Jim attended church, will officiate. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
