Jeffrey R. Cox, 13616 6 C. Road, died in Saint Joseph Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana, at 3:22 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2008, due to injuries received in a work-related accident.

Jeff had worked as a lineman for NIPSCO for 30 years.

One of his main objectives in life was making the world smile.

Born in South Bend on November 1, 1959, the son of James R. and Anna Lucille Clark Cox, Jeff graduated from Bremen High School with the class of 1978.

In high school he was the Sectional Champion in tennis.

On April 19, 1980, Jeff and Patti McGowan were married in Lakeville.

An active and much talented man, Jeff loved hunting, cooking and flying model airplanes. He enjoyed blues music and ball room dancing. He liked to travel with his family.

He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of Quail Unlimited and the American Legion Post 27.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Patti, and by their son, Christopher and daughter-in-law, Jessica, Cox of Charlotte, N.C.

His parents in Bremen also survive together with a brother, Jerry (Cindy) Cox , a sister, Joetta (Greg) Balsley, all of Plymouth, and several nieces and nephews.

Jeff is survived by his mother -in-law Jean McGowan, a sister-in-law, Suzanne (David) Adams, Lakeville, and a brother-in-law, Dr. Jack (Rose) McGowan, Montgomery, Texas, survives as well.

Jeff was preceded in death by his beloved pet, a German shorthaired pointer, named Bear.

Friends are invited by the family to share their memories and their love on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, from 2 to 8 p.m., and continued after 7 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2008, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Ind.

Funeral services for Jeff will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2008, with calling one hour prior to services in the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, 11203 S. Michigan St., Plymouth.

Burial will take place at a later date in the Bremen Cemetery.

Memorial gifts in Jeff’s name may be made to the National Rifle Association, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairfax, Virginia 22030.
