Jessie M. Tillman, 75, died, following an extended illness, at her residence, 6162 S. 875 W. Claypool, Ind., on Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at 8:45 p.m. Jessie had moved to Claypool from Plymouth 42 years ago.
She was born in Plymouth on August 1, 1928, the daughter of Jesse and Estella Kyser Markley. She was a 1946 graduate of West High School.
On December 15, 1947, in Nappanee, Ind., Jessie and Lloyd E. Tillman were married.
A homemaker, she helped her husband on their farm.
Jessie enjoyed driving the tractor, flower gardening and watching the hummingbirds. She was an avid camper, liked all kinds of games and especially loved being with her family.
She had attended the Walnut Church of the Brethren.
Jessie is survived by Lloyd, her husband of 56 years, Claypool, and by their four children, two sons and two daughters.
Her daughters are: Pat and Joe Walters and Becky and Ed Drudge, all of Claypool. Her two sons are: Gary and Linda Tillman, Bremen, and Dale and Deb Tillman, Claypool.
Fourteen grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive, together with a brother, Russell Markley and a sister-in-law, Margaret “Peg” Markley, both of Plymouth.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, a great-grandchild, a sister, Laura O’Dell and a brother, Glenn Markley.
Friends will be welcomed by Jessie’s family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2004, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2004, in the funeral home. The Rev. Paul McBride will officiate.
Interment will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Jessie’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
